Nicholas has 35 years varied business experience from large corporates to running his own business. He has been involved in retailing, software, office equipment, decorative products and even Green Shield Stamps. In the UK, across Europe and into South Africa.

Marketing - Office Equipment, Decorative Products, Argos, Green Shield Stamps, Bar Code Printing, Blood Pressure Monitors

Sales - Over £40Mn of IBM based EPoS software and hardware to many of the UK's leading retailers such as HMV, Iceland Frozen Foods and Great Mills DIY.

He was a General Manager at Pegasus Software Plc and led an MBO to become MD of that and subsequently other software houses.

 

“I commenced my journey into mentoring primarily because of my period as General Manager at Pegasus Software (the leading supplier of accounting software to SME's in the UK). During that time I met many MD's and rather than discussing software I invariably ended up talking to them about their business and the problems they faced. I realised then there was a desperate need for someone to provide an independent ear, to support them on their particular journey”

 

As mentioned Nicholas led a management buyout of the Division he was running at Pegasus and so then got direct experience of what it was like to have the buck stopping there! Selling out of that and then being an MD of two more businesses he realised that he was ideally placed to be the Mentor that SME businesses need. For that he uses all business experience but also his life experience including running a Swimming Club for the Disabled and being Secretary of his son's Football Team.

 

“Taking my son to football at the age of 5 and helping to run the team for the last 8 years has taught me many things. About individual motivation, team play, commitment and focus. With the disabled I learned that everyone can achieve despite what the outward appearance may suggest”

 

To improve his skills, Nicholas attended a Diploma in Counselling course at the University of Hertfordshire and is professionally supervised to ensure he meets his commitment to keep to an ethical framework.

 

Nicholas not only Mentors individuals and teams but also assists in exit strategy planning and buying and selling businesses; he has recently facilitated two acquisitions on behalf of one client and is actively looking for more on their behalf.

 

Nicholas is a Non Exec Director of Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce and also a Governor of his daughter’s school Bishop’s Hatfield Girls.

 

He has recently made a step back into mainstream business with a new environmental control based software venture Newera Controls www.newera-controls.com.

 

He lives in Hatfield with his wife Lauren and children Freddie and Gina
